The Beatles Remastered Box Sets
The Beatles classic albums were initially remastered digitally and released on CD back in the late 80s at that time digital mastering was still a pretty new art and since that time a whole bunch has been found out about how to do it more effectively but even more important is all of the many technological advances during that time.
All of the forward movements in technology and all of the know how learned on how to most effectively remaster digitally have been put to very good use with the remastered Beatles releases of 2009. On September 9 The Beatles released both The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set and The Beatles Mono Box Set. And both box sets sound great. If you’ve yet to hear ‘em, I recommend you get your hands on The Beatles remasters as soon as you can.
Which kind of remastered Beatles should a fan order? Well for me the answer was easy: “all of them” but if you can only afford you will most likely go with the Beatles in Stereo since it includes all thirteen of their studio albums and most folks really do like the stereo mixes more than the mono mixes.
The Beatles in Mono is aimed at really serious Beatles fanatics who want to hear all of the differences between the mono and stereo mixes (and sometimes they are really quite different) and for fans who want to hear the lads from Liverpool how they originally heard them (this, of course, applies to the original fans who were around for The Beatles in the flesh back in the 60s.)
On December 8th there will be a 3rd choice: The Beatles USB Memory Stick. This USB stick includes the Beatles entire stereo remastered box set in a little stick you can easily hold in your hand. How cool is that? It contains all of their CDs in 2 formats; better than CD quality 24bit FLAC and 320kbps mp3s.
It’s the “better than CD quality” bit is what will excite a good number of audiophiles but for casual fans it is the 320kbps mp3s that’ll be played the most.
Harold Laurence Quesenberry recommends this Beatles Online Store for all of your Beatles shopping needs. There’s plenty of other Beatles stuff available besides The Beatles Stereo & Mono Box Sets.
