The first high definition television that hit the market was a plasma TV. These TVs are commonly found in large arenas as they can have very large screens. Plasma also produces some of the most realistic and excellent quality images as there is almost no image distortion. Many people still prefer the plasma version televisions over LCD televisions.

The new LED Televisions coming out aren’t the same old ones that have been around for years. They are better, and in fact they might even be better then LCD or Plasma TVs. LED, which stands for light emitting diodes, have been around for a long time now. They have a new feature that is setting the electronic industry in motion.

The battle between plasma and LCD televisions was won some time ago by LCD of course; providing a comparable picture, at a lower cost, with lower energy consumption and with greater longevity. Job done you would have though then. But things are never that simple, and now we have the LED television to consider.
