Princess Protection Program Movie is a movie by Disney Channel movie. The movie is a hit with all ages. The movie has two stars performing together both the performances are at par. Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez are the main role performers. The clothes are both perfectly paired and trendy. The lead characters and the supporting actors roles are well defined and everyone looks the part that they are playing. The plot and script is engrossing.
The plot is quite simple really. Costa Luna, is a small island kingdom. The official language is English though it is laced with a strong Spanish accent. The island is engulfed in grief as the King had an untimely death. Though the grief is fresh,the dead King’s wife has to help their 17 year old daughter, Rosie, the crown princess, prepare for becoming the monarch. With just ten days to the coronation, the palace is shaken by an attack from the rebels who want a dictator, militant General Magnus Kane, to be installed to rule the kingdom in place of the monarch.
A fierce war breaks out. During the battle, a princess protection program whisks the princess to safety so that she does not have to face political imprisonment. The PPP shifts the princess from her small island kingdom to the rural parts of Louisiana, USA. Here she meets Carter, a full time high school student and part time bait shop employee in her father’s store. Carter’s dad is part of the PPP and needs to go on a mission therefore he entrusts the princess in his daughter’s care.
It is up on Carter to now teach the princess, Rosie how to blend in to the school atmosphere so that she is not detected by any spys. Carter is a little tough on Rosie because she has to get rid of her snobby behaviour and princess mannerisms. Carter herself is picked on very often at school as she is not very popular. At school Rosie and Carter have to pretend that they are couzins. This is not very agreeable to both the girls but they have to get along for the safety of the princess.
Rosie’s mother was left behind. She is now held captive by the General who forces her to marry him. This plot is what leads to the film’s climax. The story quite interestingly captures the development of the bond between the girls as it grows in their day to day association as they study, play and try working part time together. Each of the girls becomes a teacher to the other. Carter learns how to act like a princess though she is not one and Rosie learns how to be a normal person though she cannot be one.
The movie leaves you with a moral that you don’t have to be royalty to know how to behave and that acceptance is important. It also teaches that friendship is to be valued.
