A Kiss at Midnight is the same story that has been told since the starting of the age. It is that true love will always stand no matter however big the adversaries are. If you have gotten hold of this concept then the rest of the story is predictable. It just narrates us about two foes that are essentially soul mates and when they meet, love starts blossoming. But an incident tears them apart, and then a considerable effort from the friends of both the parties finally brings them together.
Directed by Bradford May, this sure shot blockbuster has solely one purpose and that is to instill the faith and love in the heart of unbelievers. It tells us that true love has and will always win no matter the odds it is against. A Kiss at Midnight is also peppered with strong and delightful acting performances and when the script is also taken into account, it becomes a complete entertainer.
The story of A Kiss at Midnight is based on two people who run rival dating agencies. One is Susan who prefers to do the work the old fashioned way. She feels that a human touch is necessary for hitching people and she is also very proud that all the couples she made end up getting married. However the biggest irony of her life is that she is almost 40 and is still single.
On the other hand there is Josh Sherman (Cameron Daddo) who is widower and has two daughters. He is starting a dating agency that will do the matching using a computer. It is obvious that human calculations can’t beat technology hence Susan starts loosing clients to Sherman, to put an end to this situation Susan makes a profile in Sherman’s agency, so that she can expose the agency.
Also thrown in the mix are Sherman’s daughters who are looking for a mom, hence they create his profile and put that on the computer. As luck would have it, those two are found be perfect couple. They meet and loves seems to be blossoming but story cannot be that simple now can it? All mayhem breaks loose when they both get to know about each other’s profession, thinking the other is out to destroy other’s business they are now sworn enemies. The end as you might have guessed is predictable. It is a family movie after all!
The acting in the movie is first rate with both the actors in top form. Since the movie has loads of comic capers in the beginning and both of these actors are known for their comedy hence it sets the tone for the later part of the movie. The daughters of Josh played by Jadin Gould and Abigail Mavity also deserve a special mention as they carried a movie on the pivotal points quite admirably.
Over all this movie is a must watch for the people of all ages. It is light hearted and fun. It is one of those romantic movies where you would cry because of laughing!
