Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson

There’s no such thing as bad publicity. But how do celebrities like Jessica Simpson cope with any publicizing of a bad time in their lives? It’s one thing to deal with, rise above, or circumvent constant exposure, constant trailing, and constant appearance of candid photos. Its part of the voluntary lifestyle, one that includes intended photo shoots…for advertising purposes. It’s another to do the same when your heart is breaking.

Rolling Stone Magazine features Simpson in a cover story entitled “Housewife of the Year: Jesssica Simpson.” On the cover, she is in high-heeled shoes, white flowered underpants, and a white tank top, and is holding the upper handle of a vacuum cleaner, smiling and standing in, of course, a sexy way.

In Touch Weekly includes a lovely photo of Jessica smiling and waving, attached to a paragraph on her choice of dieting methods, quoting her on her approaches--trying Atkins then switching to South Beach.

In the same magazine, a half-page photo of Jessica Simpson before and an inset of her now offer speculation that the pop star and former reality-show wife has had lip enhancement.

And a few pages later, a before and after the break-up shows Jessica enjoying romantic getaways, smiling on the way back to the $3,000-a-night villa, and indulging in a loving kiss—with then husband Nich Lachey…then reveals in a two-paged story with sad pics how Jessica spent her holidays, looking miserable by all [photographic] accounts.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, married and often represented as a golden couple very much in love (the only premise, seemingly to their reality TV show, for example) have separated. The rumors are prolific, emphasizing the thing Jessica allegedly had one night with Adam Levine (lead singer of Maroon 5), as they were seen nuzzling and touching and leaving a club together; exaggerating Nick’s consistent calling and Jessica’s persistent leaving of calls unanswered; and hinting that Nick might go for alimony (as Jessica pulled in the majority of the income—an estimated $35 million in one year).

Further speculation is at the center of articles debating how friends and fellow stars have counseled Jessica: Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Anniston are spotlighted (as having been through it and) as advising her to keep smiling, to hold her head high in public, solo or not.

So, again, it is not just the suspicion and speculation that appeal to caring readers. While the worst and the best now lost are what sell, what many of consider when we are reading about you, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Anniston, and others in similar situations, is not what dirt we can discover but what one reporter reminds us is the fact that you and Nick are human, you were very much in love, and your hearts are broken. And for that alone we give you big kudos—for making it through, despite the coverage…true or not.
